Our Polycarbonate sneeze guard shield for round tables are made of 3/16” thick Unbreakable Polycarbonate material and costs more than comparable thickness acrylic or plexiglass.
Polycarbonate is used in organic food production as a glass alternative, because acrylic and other similar materials can splinter/shatter, and contaminate food production environments. For this reason, Polycarbonate is also recommended in public deployments, especially where children or the elderly are present.
Polycarbonate has low flammability, while acrylic will burn slowly and is not recommended in areas where flames may be present.
Because of its durability, Polycarbonate is used in aircraft windows, bus shelters and “bullet-proof” window applications.
The price you pay for an inferior acrylic material may be worth it to you in the short term, but an educated consumer should understand that not all sneeze guards or table dividers are equal.
